Comment spamming attempts started rolling in at a ridiculous rate today - guess that means that this site has established some kind of presence ;-)
Stef’s mother is visiting this week, and after my 3.625 years with Stef the parents are finally going to meet each other later this week. I’m not worried about this at all, but with my father’s guttural Welsh accent, Stef and her mother’s perpetual state of German-ness, and the fact that sometimes I cannot understand what my father is saying, this could be interesting.

I downloaded the ”Mac OS X for UNIX users Technology Brief” from the UNIX developer section of Apple’s site, as I’ve ordered a Mac mini and wanted to work out how it will fit into the ”infrastructure” here.
I was a bit annoyed to discover that it states on Page 3 that FreeBSD is “developed at the University of California, Berkeley”. Note passed to Apple via the contact link; let’s see what happens.
Update: January 18th, 2005
Apple responded and have “forwarded this information to the appropriate team for their review”.

I was watching the National Geographic channel and a program called “Killer Leopards” was showing. It was about the Indian Leopard, its endangerment and the problems being experienced with the leopards apparently stalking and killing villages and farmers.
During this program they showed a number of photographs of hunters, who had taken it upon themselves to kill the troublesome leopards, with their kills. Whilst I’m not naive enough to consider myself able to comment on whether this is right or not (after all, the program was only an hour long), it did make me wonder: hunting used to be a rite of passage into adulthood, and was generally regarded as a sign of manhood because it was fucking difficult and you had to be just a little bit rock hard.
Now, you only have to be in the blind by 4pm, and that just is wrong.
If proof were needed, check it out. Even a bad drawing of some dude spearing a deer is more hardcore than the loser on the right:
